Compliments From A Distance

This is the universe of misleading portraiture,
Where nothing is as it seems.
Don’t let the aesthetics fool you,
This is truly an ugly scene.
Did you notice the lack in colour,
the double-crossing lines?
Pay attention to detail;
Learn to read the hazard signs.
These elegant faces have,
The power to break a mans heart.
Enchanted by fiction,
We were doomed from the start.
This is the universe of misleading portraiture,
Where nothing is as it seems.

  1. So very true!

  2. Beautiful. When I read this I’m reminded of mythical lands where everything looks beautiful and wonderous but actually, under the surface, its all rotten and bland. The people arn’t as kind or beautiful as they first seemed to be.

    It really IS important to keep your eyes open to the subtle signs in this life that point to the truth. Beautiful poem 🙂
